I’m Debbie, the founder of Elder Education and my journey into hairdressing wasn’t exactly planned. I spent 15 years as a Big 4 Tax Senior Manager, buried in spreadsheets and tax Legislation. It was a solid career, but it never really excited me or allowed me to be creative.
In 2019 burnout made me rethink everything. I walked away from the corporate world, retrained as a hairdresser and haven’t looked back since. Now, I run a busy salon in Harrogate, working with clients and teaching others how to master hair extensions and reach their full potential.
When I trained in hair extensions, I noticed something frustrating — so many courses took your money and left you stranded, with little or no support to build in this thriving industry. Some barely covered the basics, others were tied to brands that pushed their own products instead of proper training. I knew I could create something better and raise the bar for the next generation of hair extension specialists going into this industry
That’s why Elder Education is completely independent. No sales gimmicks. No filler. Just proper training that actually helps you grow. There is no brand bias, no sales tactics.
I also wanted to raise the standard. Most trainers aren’t qualified to teach, but I hold the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) which allows me to train, assess and certify adults in my specialist area professionally.
Because watching a video isn't the same as actually doing it.
No overcrowded classrooms, just focused attention.
So you can get trade accounts and insured and start working straight away.
I won't disappear the moment you get your certificate.
I’ve got two children, one of whom is autistic, so I get that everyone has different needs and commitments. My training is designed to be inclusive, supportive and helpful—because you matter and your success matters.
